Our West Bay Holiday Home is in Bridport, Dorsets ‘eventful town’. As such it is a perfect base for enjoying the many exciting events the town holds annually. Some these have unique themes! Read on to discover more.

The Bridport Hat Festival is a brilliant day. Locals and visitors alike visit the town in an array of wonderful, wacky and crazy hats, many being homemade. They take part in the Festival and a mass hatted photo shoot. The Festival kicks off with a hat amnesty, when visitors can off-load redundant and unwanted hats. The Ropewalk Fair celebrates Bridport’s rope making heritage and net making future. A whole range of rope and net related activities for all ages, take place, including sporting challenges and heritage walks. Carnival & Torchlight Processions take place on the third weekend of August. The processions of floats pass through West Street, then onwards down South Street, on Saturday evening. The Torchlight procession takes place on the Sunday. It starts at Bucky Doo Square to ends in West Bay. 1,500 blazing torches are carried by families as they snake their way to West Bay for a celebration with live music on East Beach. http://www.bridportcarnival.co.uk
