The upcoming 13th Bridport Literary Festival 05-12 November, is a great event. We welcome you to stay at  our West Bay Holiday Home, which would be a comfortable and relaxing base for this very popular week.

The Event Goes From Strength-To-Strength

Past attendees will see that http://www.bridlit.com is going from strength to strength. With a programme of events that is growing each year, the Festival is attracting larger audiences of all tastes and ages. Fans of the Festival come to Bridport from all over the country to enjoy the wide range of literature. They find an eclectic mix of writers of fiction and non fiction. And. this year the list will include Lord Patten in conversation about his memoir: First Confessions. Also, Chris Bonington will speak about his own Ascent. Further, husband and wife literati, Claire Tomalin and Michael Frayn will be present again. So will Peter Snow and his wife Ann MacMillan. Also, veteran war correspondents Martin Bell and Kate Adie will discuss War and the Death of News. Excitingly, journalists Douglas Murray and Steve Richards will discuss the current political climate from their different viewpoints. 

Bridport Literary Festival Will Host Several Special Events

This year, the Festival is delighted to host several events featuring the talents of local writers. Including those who have become energised and inspired by living and working in the West Country. These will include Jason Goodwin, Horatio Morpurgo, Bijan Omrani, Boris Starling and Robert Twigger.

Further, the Festival will again host events for children and young people. And it is helping to sponsor Puppet State’s production of J.R.R. Tolkien’s lesser-known short story: Leaf by Niggle at the Lyric Theatre. Younger children will be thrilled to attend a workshop and story-telling event at the Bridport Youth and Community Centre. None other than Mr Oddy, will be present!

The Lunches And Dinners

Highlights of the Festival will include the Oldie Magazine hosting one of its illustrious Literary Lunches at the Seaside Boarding House. You can be sure that this will be a hot ticket event, as will the annual George Millar Literary Dinner which will take place at The Bull Hotel. Once again, the much revered BridLit President, Julian Fellowes will appear as the Guest Speaker.

Finally, the Festival will be launched with a Very Special Literary Event at the Bridport Arts Centre.  National treasure, Billy Bragg will talk about his critically acclaimed new book: Roots, Radicals and Rockers: How Skiffle Changed the World.
